Curriculum KS4 Overview

KS4 Information

The Key Stage 4 curriculum runs through Years 10 - 11 and the timetable operates on a two-week cycle. There are 25 lessons per week lasting 1 hour each. 
 
In year 9 pupils complete the ‘options process’ where they can choose some of the subjects they will study in years 10 and 11. Pupils and parents are expertly guided and supported through these choices and the offering is updated each year as we continue to reflect on and develop our curriculum. 
 
In KS4, pupils study GCSEs in English, maths and science alongside four additional subjects they have also developed a personal passion and talent for. Many of our students study the suite of courses that make up the English Baccalaureate (English, maths, sciences, a humanity and a modern foreign language). We offer a broad and extensive range of GCSE and vocational courses, ensuring that all our students can study a range of subjects they enjoy and are successful in. 
 
The Year 10 - 11 students enjoy the following lessons across the fortnight: 

English - 10 lessons

Maths - 9 lessons 

Science - 9 lessons 

Option Subject 1 - 5 lessons

Option Subject 2 - 5 lessons 

Option Subject 3 - 5 lessons 

Option Subject 4 - 5 lessons 

PE - 2 lessons
