Key Stage 3

The KS3 Curriculum

At Key Stage 3, the curriculum covers all aspects of the National Curriculum and goes beyond this in many areas. We teach the full suite of subjects, including the core subjects of English, maths and science, as well as design technology, the arts, humanities and PE/Dance.

A great emphasis is placed on developing a full range of skills, in particular reading, to develop the expertise pupils need for success in all aspects of academic study. Woven through the curriculum we promote our RIME values and exploit all opportunities to develop pupils’ wider understanding of themselves, their communities and their future ambitions.

The Key Stage 3 curriculum runs through Years 7-9 and the timetable operates on a two-week cycle. It is an exciting, broad and enriching curriculum that lays the foundations of skills and knowledge that will prepare pupils for future study, ignites a passion for learning, and encourages them to tackle academic challenge with confidence and resilience; a curriculum that develops the whole person.

There are 25 lessons per week lasting 1 hour each. The Year 7 - 9 students enjoy the following lessons across the fortnight.
