Kingsmead is an 11-18 secondary school, with approximately 1300 students on roll, located in Hednesford, Staffordshire. Kingsmead serves the local community and most students live within walking distance. Our catchment is socially and economically diverse and our students have a wide range of abilities and needs. In the last inspection (2015) Kingsmead was judged to be a good school overall and in all the inspection areas (achievement of pupils, quality of teaching, behaviour & safety of pupils and leadership & management).


Kingsmead is a school which is ambitious for all its learners and committed to ensuring that every child is safe, happy and able to fulfil their potential.

At Kingsmead, we aim to provide learning experiences which focus on challenge and engagement, we celebrate achievement and aim to create pride in our successes.

We actively encourage all our students to become involved in the wider aspects of their education. We pride ourselves in offering a wide variety of extra-curricular activities, including many different sports and clubs.

Our productions are instant sell-outs every year. There are opportunities for students to become involved in a range of musical activities, including choirs and orchestras. Our sports teams have been extremely successful especially in local, regional and national competitions. I am proud of the achievements of the young people at Kingsmead whether academically, on the sporting field, musically, or as active citizens. I know I have a dedicated staff focussed on the needs of the child and willing to provide a range of opportunities to help them realise their potential.
