Year 11 Raising Aspirations Talk

On the 4th January 2018 a group of Year 11 students were involved in a Universities aspirations talk, delivered by Ex Kingsmead students Luther Williamson and Laura Greenwood.

Luther has gone on to study Physics at Oxford University and Laura to study Medicine at Bristol University.  They came back to speak to the Year 11’s to encourage them work hard at their GCSE’ s and to aim high in the future. They spoke about the subjects they are studying, living in halls, the societies they have joined and their positive experiences of university life.  They also discussed their pathway into university and tips and hints for their GCSE’s.

In addition to this two year 13 Students Josh Lily and Dan Skerman spoke about their positive experiences with Sutton Trust who offer Summer camps at Top Universities such as Durham and Imperial in the Summer of Year 12.  These give students a taster of University and can lead to reduced offers at Russell group Universities.

We hope this has inspired our Year 11’s for the future and given them an insight into university life.
