Curriculum KS3


At Kingsmead, we believe we have a broad, balanced and rich curriculum, which actively promotes the basic British Values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs.

Much of this work can be seen in the many Curriculum areas, diverse teaching resources, visitors to the school and many student led opportunities such as House and School Councils, trips and visits and charity work, both in the local community and abroad.

We pride ourselves in developing open minded and tolerant young people who understand the importance of respect and leave us fully prepared for life in modern Britain.


Our curriculum is based around the following charter:


We will "enable students to develop their self-knowledge, self-esteem and self-confidence"

We will "enable students to distinguish right from wrong and respect the civil and criminal law of England"

We will "encourage students to accept responsibility for their behaviour, show initiative and understand how they can contribute positively to the lives of those living and working in the locality of school and the wider society"

We will "enable students to acquire a broad general knowledge of and respect for public institutions and services in England"

We will "further tolerance and harmony between different cultural traditions by enabling students to acquire an appreciation of and respect for their own and other cultures"

We will "encourage respect for other people"

Students will have "an understanding of how citizens can influence decision making through the democratic process"

Students will have "an appreciation that living under the rule of law protects individual citizens and is essential for their well-being and safety"

Students will have "an understanding that the freedom to choose and hold other faiths and beliefs is protected by law"

Students will have "an acceptance that other people have different faiths and beliefs to oneself (or having none) should be accepted and tolerated and should not be the cause of prejudice or discriminatory behaviour"

Students will have "an understanding of the importance of identifying and combatting discrimination"
